Southern Africa - Cape Town

Cape Town and the Western Cape

Cape Town is probably the most well-known city in South Africa, and is bordered by the cold Atlantic Ocean to the west and the start of the Indian Ocean to the south. The city centre is beautifully embraced by the iconic Table Mountain, which is often gently covered by the cloud table-cloth, enticing you to visit and dine on the freshest seafood and drink some of the most delectable wines in the world.

Cape Town is a playground for the world’s rich & famous, it boasts stunning rocky coves and beaches, winding roads with views across the ocean, local and international culinary choices, clubs and pubs that try and keep the sun from setting, traditional and high end fashion shops, and activities that will relax you or raise your heart rate.

Should you request, we will arrange a luxury and private sea-view villa, or a quaint and personalised guesthouse/B&B, or one of a myriad of hotel options – away from, or on the water’s edge.

South of Cape Town as you head towards Cape Point, is the quaint little town, yacht basin and naval harbour of Simonstown. With the Simon’s Kloof mountain range embracing from the south, the northern views over False Bay are spectacular. The town is serviced by rail and the “Historic Mile” road, that features many national monuments, shops, restaurants, hotels and guest houses, all within easy walking distance of each other. What makes Simonstown so attractive is its cleanliness, its friendliness, its relaxed pace, its history and the fact that all activities and attractions can be reached on foot, or by easy-to-get taxi’s. It is only a 40 minute drive to Cape Town’s city centre, or 90 minutes away from the beautiful Franshoek Valley, the culinary and wine tasting heart of South Africa.

Wining on a bit more, you will be drawn to Stellenbosch, Paarl and Somerset West – all within an hour’s drive. Taste (and buy) more wonderful wines, crunch down on delectable olives, dine out and absorb beautiful scenery.

Of course the other famous local attractions include the exhilarating Great White Shark experiences, Africa’s largest penguin colony and a variety of fantastic scuba diving sites that include wrecks, seals and the 7 Gill Cow Shark.
